Satan’s Lies; God’s Truth: Lie #2--You’re on Your Own
Some of life’s most miserable moments come when disaster strikes and you’re all alone. It’s minus 10 degrees, midnight, and your car won’t start to get you home. Your roommate moves out without telling you and leaves debts and bills for you to clean up. You live alone and fall. The divorce is finalized, and it hits you that you have no partner anymore.
One of Satan’s objectives, as he seeks to destroy you spiritually, is to lie to you and make you think you’ve been abandoned by God, that you’re on your own in life, that God only watches from above but is not actually engaged in making anything happen for you personally.
This is rot. God does indeed watch over you personally and individually, all the time. But He also acts on your behalf, giving you the things you need and arranging things to make your life better. Here’s the truth: Psalm 121 says, “The LORD watches over you. . . . He will neither slumber nor sleep. . . . The LORD will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
