Behold: 7-Day Prayer JourneySample
BEHOLD THE LAMB
Lambs were a powerful symbol of innocence, purity, vulnerability, new life, and freedom in the Old Covenant. When God to uses the imagery of a lamb, it confronts our senses. It takes courage to be innocent, pure, vulnerable, and free.
Jesus, as the lamb of God, speaks to us firstly of our need for someone else to pay the ultimate price to make us innocent, pure, and free. Secondly, we discover in beholding Jesus as the Lamb of God an example of complete trust in another. Jesus had to trust that amid the ordeal of His journey to and on the cross, God the Father was indeed the “Good Shepherd” of Psalm 23.
Let’s Pray:
“Father, we thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, as the lamb slain from the earth’s foundation to pay the ultimate price so that we could be set free, forgiven and restored to innocence before You. Help us to walk out our lives in faith and trust in Your great capacity as the Good Shepherd over our lives in Jesus’ name. Amen”
- How does the image of Jesus as a Lamb help you to understand God’s nature?
- What does the fact that someone else was willing to pay the price for your forgiveness do to your heart?
- How can you walk in a way that trusts the good shepherd over your life?
