Catechism: Masterpiece

DAY 1 OF 3

Culture says if we follow our hearts, our feelings, and desires, we'll find our true selves. That our identity and self-worth are found in the things we do and the roles we play.

So, we end up living our lives trying to prove who we are to others, striving to show that we’re talented, special, and worthy of attention and popularity.

But when we look to God, we can see that no performance is necessary: We don’t have to achieve our worth. We are masterpieces, wonderfully created as his image-bearers! He made us with great care and knows us best.We don’t have to work to be accepted, valued, or treasured by God - we already are.

Being an image-bearer means our unique personality and gifts are reflections of God himself. And when we get to know God, we get to know ourselves and who he designed us to be.

If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t know who I am,” would you be willing to explore what God has to say about your identity, worth, and purpose? You might just discover a sense of peace and freedom you’ve never known before.

Read: Ephesians 2:10; Psalm 139:13-18; 1 Peter 2:9-10

Reflect: In what ways have you tried to earn approval from others? How does knowing that God created you as his masterpiece free you from that mindset?

Day 2

About this Plan

Catechism: Masterpiece

We are constantly bombarded with messages about our identity. While culture may say that identity is self-defined and discovered, the Bible shows that our identity and worth is rooted in our relationship to God. We are God's masterpiece - deeply valued, deeply loved and wanted. This 3-day Bible Plan is part 1 of 4 designed to go along with the Catechism 'Who Am I' small group series.
