According to His Riches in Glory: Learning to See God's Presence on DisplaySample
Being an entrepreneur is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I have ever experienced. Within its confines, I have had some unbelievable highs and some unimaginable lows. Recently, after another failed program launch, I was writing in my journal. My journal is the space where I pour out my heart to God, and He pours out His love upon me. Sometimes I forget that this space is for both of us, as I write without pausing to listen for what He wants to say back. But I have learned over the years that when I give Him room to respond, He does.
This particular day, I started writing as I typically do. After looking at my bank account and lack of potential projects, it was clear that this month was not a profitable month. My entry went a little like this:
Dear God,
I need some new clients. I think…
I paused. We both knew exactly where this journal entry was headed, and I was ready to take it there. My list of needs (in case He was not aware), frustrations, and questions spewed out on paper. But mid-ink, something changed. Right after I wrote those first nine words, a thought dropped in my mind and what I wrote next, although true, surprised me.
But I know You know exactly what I need, and You will provide it according to Your riches in glory. So what are Your riches and glory?
I knew that scripture well. It was Philippians 4:19: "But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (KJV)
I have it written on the front of my zipper Bible case. I’ve quoted it at least a dozen times and shared it with others as a reminder of God’s love. Yet, it was not until this moment that I actually stopped to ask God this question. In all my years of walking with Jesus, I had never asked Him that simple question.
I am always amazed when the Creator of the Heavens and Earth decides to share the mysteries of Heaven with me. And when He does, I am all ears.
That day, God shared fresh revelation and wisdom that I am excited to share with you. But before I do, I want you to write in your journal what you believe this scripture means.
Let’s explore the heavenly mysteries deeper in tomorrow's devotional.
