A Guide to Emotional HealingSample
Does God really care?
Does God really care about your feelings? I’ve met so many people who don’t believe God cares about their emotions. They are convinced He is too busy with the poor of India or the diseases in Africa. He’s so busy caring about souls that He doesn’t care about our feelings...that’s their firm belief structure, but it’s not mine.
Jesus won this argument for me: “‘Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’” (Matthew 11:28, NKJV) Jesus was speaking to a crowd and revealed that God is not some insensitive deity in the sky who’s hard-hearted and/or oblivious to our feelings. Jesus was God in the flesh. “Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, “Show us the Father”?’” (John 14:9, NKJV)
When Jesus says, “come to Me” when we are weary or burdened, our souls should be touched. I’m weary of COVID-19 and the politicians’ efforts to stem the tide. I’m sure they are good people, but I am burdened by all these measures they’ve taken. I’m not saying they are wrong...only that I’m weary and burdened.
How about you? Are you also weary and burdened with the virus, riots, and violence? News alert: God cares! He wants to help us and use us to help others. Jesus says, “‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’” (Matthew 11:29, NKJV)
God cares about you, your relationships, your school cancellations, and your business closures. He’ll help us grow through this because He loves us, and we love Him back. He didn’t send the virus, but He can surely get rid of it. He didn’t cause the violence or riots, but He promises to be the Prince of Peace.
How about you? Cry out to Him. Be honest about your pain because you are a miracle.
