An Unexpected EncounterSample
Jesus offers us living water
In the story of the Samaritan woman we see that Jesus comes to a well to draw water. Although we sometimes forget it, he also had human needs and weariness. Jesus already went through everything that we can go through or suffer today in this world. He did not do it just for the sake of it, but to understand us and to feel our need from a close point of view.
In John 4:8 we can read that Jesus not only went to meet this woman to ask her for water, but to offer her living water that only he could give. He always speaks to us in-depth, to open our spiritual ears.
This story reminds us that Jesus is The Source that satisfies our spirit as nothing and no one else can. He alone fills the void within us, rebuilds that which is broken, makes all things new.
Many times, like this Samaritan woman, we believe that we need material or physical things to satisfy the emptiness that those same things leave behind. We may think that there is nothing that can fill us. But Jesus is our provider of life and our eternal joy. He wants and is able to enrich your soul with things that this world cannot give. Let him be your source of living water!
Prayer: Lord, I ask you to fill me with the living water that only you can give. I want to experience the fullness in my spirit and be satiated by you. Help me to stop seeking in the world that which can only be found in you. In Jesus' name, amen.
