Flowers Don't Worry: Journal Your Way Through Anxiety!

DAY 5 OF 7

Gerbera daisies bloom in hundreds of different colors and are most commonly used in bouquets and flower arrangements. An interesting fact about these gorgeous flowers is that they can stay alive for a very long time — if they’re kept in fresh water.

Jesus tells the Samaritan woman by the well that the water He can give her will make her “thirst no more” and will become a “spring of water welling up to eternal life”. He draws her attention to the fact that believing in Him can lead to eternal life.

Our worries are hardly ever about eternity. In fact, we give little or no thought to eternity every day. Our daily concerns revolve around our earthly lives – finances, future, relationships, health, ambitions, success, career, etc. However, in times of dealing with such concerns, if we choose to immerse ourselves in the Living Water (Jesus), we will certainly gain what I call “eternity-perspective”. He is able to help us look beyond our journey now and set our minds on our eternal pilgrimage.

Journaling Prompt:

Today, in your journal, as you sketch, draw or doodle a gerbera daisy; think about the things that worry you most and how important they are with eternity in perspective. Make a commitment to look at things that bother you through your eternity-lens. Write down John 4:13-14 and meditate on the Living Water and how you can be connected to Him always.

You can watch the video tutorial to learn how to draw a gerbera daisy in a few easy steps.

Prayer:

Lord, I often lose perspective of eternity. I don’t think about the forever that you’ve promised me when I believe in You. Instead, I tend to focus on the here and now. Please help me change my outlook and stay grounded. Help me constantly be rooted in You, my Living Water and thirst for nothing more than your Presence. Amen.

About this Plan

Flowers Don't Worry: Journal Your Way Through Anxiety!

Worrying is a normal response to difficult situations. However, Jesus urges us in Luke 12:27 to “look at the lilies” and learn from them about trusting God. This Bible plan encourages you to actively work through your anxiety by journaling creatively. Take out your notebook, pens, paints, craft paper, etc. and engage with the Word of God! Let’s learn from a few flowers about how to deal with worry.
