The Kingdom of GodSample
The King of the Kingdom
The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, is the King of God’s kingdom. God the Son, who came to earth, took on human flesh and even humbled himself to the point of dying the death of a criminal, is the one whom the Father has deemed to give a name above all other names. Every person to ever live will one day bow their knee to him and acknowledge his place of authority.
This happens one of two ways. If someone recognizes the beauty of Jesus Christ, then they bow and receive him as Lord and Savior. Otherwise, those who do not accept him as Lord and Savior now will come before him on judgment day and be unable to recognize who he truly is.
Those who receive him now live a life seeking to please their King by good works, increasing in their knowledge of him, enduring patiently in joy by his strength and being thankful. Those who reject his reign may put forth any number of reasons why, but it boils down to refusing to submit to God as king and rightful sovereign over their lives.
This King is truly glorious! He inspires the awe of his people. He graciously leads them like a good shepherd, caring for their needs and guiding them, pursuing them when they stray from his sheepfold, leading them to green pastures. He is gentle and lowly. His burden is easy, and his yoke is light.
His affection for his bride is unending, pursuing her out of a state of pure animosity and longsuffering her all her days until he is able to present her before his father as a pure and spotless bride. This is our King! And it is he who will usher in the kingdom of God into its full reality.
In the final battle where good and evil come to their final clash, our King will ride in on a white horse and lead his people to triumph over his foes. After this great battle, the new heaven and new earth will become a perfectly synonymous reality.
God will dwell with his people: his people who by this time will be perfected, made sinless—able to gaze upon the very face of God without being destroyed. The sound of praise in those days will truly be phenomenal. Worthy is the Lamb!
