How to Fight Fair and Fearless in Your Marriage by Treal RavenelSample
Stay planted in Jesus!
I know this is more easily said than done. Your boots are probably shaking most days because you’ve lost your footing or ability to stay planted in a now unpredictable environment. At one time in your marriage, what you were facing was not a worry or concern, but now, it seems like the main event, and you have front row seats.
While you will go through many realistic and unexpected emotions and feelings, you can choose to stay in place. You can decide to take the advice and wisdom from Days 1-4 and put those in your mental tape recorder and play on repeat.
At your worst, God is at his best, and he is bidding you to trust him. Through this devotional and other encounters you have had throughout this process, he keeps saying,” Daughter or son, trust me.” He said it when you were contemplating reading yet another bible plan or hearing yet another prophecy or by whatever other means He might communicate to you.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
God loves to bless his obedient children! He can move heaven and earth on your behalf. God prepares the way for you and has promised to supply every one of your needs (including your emotional needs) as you follow him in faith and love (Philippians 4:19). He doesn’t claim that there will be no fights, but he promises eventual victory.
Our heavenly father does not promise that weapons wouldn’t form against, but he did say they didn’t have a chance to defeat you. “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17).
While you’re in it, choose to stay planted!
Devotional Reflection: Why do you feel that it is pivotal during this process that you stay planted in Jesus?
