Who Do You Think You Are?

DAY 4 OF 5

Know Your Strength

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.

The third identity marker we want you to know is that you have the strength and power to overcome any situation life can throw at you. Paul prays in Ephesians 3 that the people would be strengthened in power by the Spirit (Ephesians 3:16), have the power to grasp how wide Christ's love for us is (Ephesians 3:18), and to know that he can do immeasurably more according to His power at work in us (Ephesians 3:20).

There are three things we will be strengthened in today as we read Ephesians 3: strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit so Christ dwells in our hearts in faith, strengthened in our understanding of his love, and in the knowledge of his power. The greater our knowledge of His love, might, and power, the more confidence we have when situations come against us. When situations shake you, it’s not more discipline that you need, it’s more understanding of how much he loves you and how powerful he is to overcome anything you face. And so strengthened by his power at work in us.

Firstly, Paul is clear, the strength you need for your life comes from the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 3:16). As you pray, the Holy Spirit strengthens you, equips you, and empowers you. He reveals Christ to you so that a deeper revelation of who Christ is, what he has done for us, and his love and power is given to us.

The second thing Paul wants you to be strengthened in is your understanding of how much God loves you. Paul shows that we need to be rooted and grounded in love and to comprehend how deep, long and wide the love of Christ is. It goes beyond our knowledge! Strength comes when we are filled with the fullness of God and his love.

Lastly, be strengthened in your understanding of God’s mighty power. Ephesians 3:20-21 is a great verse to memorize. The greater our knowledge of His might and power that we have in Him, the more confidence we have when situations come against us. David faced Goliath with that strength! Strength comes from letting go of our own understanding and standing on the knowledge that He is greater than we can imagine.

Prayer Point: I pray Holy Spirit that you will give me a fresh revelation of God’s love and power. That this understanding would build a strong and solid foundation in my life so that no matter what’s happens I can stand on this unshakeable, unchangeable truth. You love me more than I can understand and your power is greater than I can imagine.

About this Plan

Who Do You Think You Are?

Your identity (who you are) is established upon the qualities, personality, beliefs, and traits that form the foundation of who you are and what you do. Our identity and security in Christ are essential as Christians. That you ‘know’ who you are, and that knowledge impacts your entire life. This devotional is a walk through the book of Ephesians.
