Liar, Liar Cant's on Fire: Lies Told by the EnemySample
Lie #6 - “You can’t recover”
Whether physical pain or emotional trauma, the ultimate healer remains constant. God’s remedy can be found at the intersection of our pain and suffering. The Bible declares if we ask, seek, knock, it will be given, we will find, and the door will be opened. However, at our lowest point of seemingly no return, we are inclined to believe the lie of the enemy that echoes “we can’t recover.” Maybe you’ve even uttered the words “maybe God can’t heal me.” Unfortunately, when we don’t see results in our timing, we fall to extreme levels of despair and hopelessness.
Depression, addiction, and physical illness are just to name a few of the conditions to which we fall victim. Despite our labels of sickness, trauma, or pain, one fact remains. Supernatural healing has not passed away. God still performs miracles and still shows up when we least expect it. Why do we least expect it? If He’s intervened on our behalf in the past, why would we ever doubt His ability to do so again? The answer is simple. We gravitate toward repetition. We believe the thoughts we repeat in our minds. The lies of the devil become more engrained within our psyche as they become the soundtrack of our darkest seasons: fear, doubt, repeat. Even in our most resilient moments of rebuking his detestability, we often find ourselves treading water again in those same rivers of doubt.
Jesus healed countless people in need and raised multiple people from the dead. We have seen the miracle of incredible healing and recovery, even in modern times, against all odds. The common theme in setting lies on fire is to ignite truth as the spark. The truth of God’s word will blaze a trail through any of our mindsets that the enemy calls his own. The devil has no power; he only has tactics. At the end of the day, the Lord empowers us for victory and gives us the playbook of scriptures with which to fight the battle.
CHALLENGE:
Give your pain a name but not an identity. Acknowledge the battle and take ownership of the weapons God provides in His word. Choose a scripture to post where you see and speak it daily.
