Self-Love: 3 Ways to Love YourselfSample
Loving Your Body
To show love to your body is to take care of your body. Here are practical ways to care for your body:
* Keep the body physically fit through healthy eating habits and getting the little you can from exercising frequently (1 Timothy 4:8)
* Sleep/Rest
God wants you to have a sweet sleep (Proverbs 3:24), and you ought to schedule a weekly day of rest from your regular work. If God rested, you also must learn to rest (Genesis 2:3). Sleep and rest are therapeutic, and they help the brain function more efficiently. Sometimes, our bodies shut down, or we fall sick when we neglect the need for sleep and rest. We do not need to fall sick before resting. We must be proactive and intentional about resting and sleeping well.
* Run away from sexual immorality
1 Corinthians 6:13, 18-20 (AMP) says: ... The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body [to save, sanctify, and raise it again because of the sacrifice of the cross]. ... Run away from sexual immorality [in any form, whether thought or behavior, whether visual or written]. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the one who is sexually immoral sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.
* Speak life
Several studies reveal there is a connection between spoken words and physical health. That is, consistently speaking negative comments can affect your body. Before scientists began discovering this link, the Bible already declared, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words." Proverbs 18:21 (AMP)
Indulge your tongue for your physical well-being. Start declaring God's truth about your body:
"My body is God's temple." " My body is functioning properly." "My strength is being renewed." "The Spirit of God quickens my mortal body." "I glorify God in my body," etc. Speak life over your body!
