The Value Of TimeSample
Valuing Time Leads To The Redemption Of Lost Time
While preparing my sermon on time in 2015, I came across this headline in The Huffington Post, "You Can Determine What You Value by Where You Spend Your Time" written by Scott Anderson. The statement caught my attention, and I spent time just pondering on it. I realized that time is a currency which we invest and whatever we invest our time in will also bring a return be it good or bad rewards. When we gain wisdom that time is so short compared to eternity the words of God, the instructions of God has a new value. Recognize that time invested in God's plans and purposes for us will only bring the best rewards. When we value the time, we can actually redeem lost and wasted years.
The Apostle Paul in writing to the Church in Ephesus encouraged the saints to live in obedience to God's words because the times they were living in was full of deceptions of the soul. It was much like our times, and he was warning them that the choices or decisions they make could either steal their time away from the kingdom or they could redeem the lost time.
Every time we make a choice to follow God's way we are obeying his will for our lives, and that frees up more time for us to accomplish more for him. We can actually do more for the kingdom when we need not keep cleaning up the messes of our poor choices.
I value time more now that I am older because I realized the years left are but a few, but when I was in my twenties I thought I had all the time in the world, and that led to so many destructive decisions in my life. I want to encourage you today to look at the choices and the decisions you are making daily and take stock of how much you value time.
Prayer: Lord, help me today to make better choices and decisions so I can redeem the lost time.
