Hope in God!Sample
Maintain the Assurance of Hope to the End
Being a Christian means being at war — at war against spiritual enemies, against our own sinful desires, against temptations presented to us by fellow people, against weariness, hopelessness and backsliding. This list is discouraging, and it is just a selection of the trials which believers face. In the midst of all this, we need to “continue in the faith, stable and steadfast” (Colossians 1:23). How can we do so? By “not shifting from the hope of the Gospel that you heard” (same verse). The core message of the Gospel should always be at the front of our mind: God loves the world so much that He gave His only beloved Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not be lost but have eternal life. This is the solid foundation of our hope.
If we lose sight of these truths, we can’t endure to the end. We’ll get overwhelmed, distracted or discouraged. But if we “hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering” (Hebrews 10:23), we can persevere in God’s power. We can’t win the battle in our own power, but His power is made perfect in weakness and we can trust God to do what He promised.
About this Plan
For many people, “hope” is something positive but also something uncertain. If we hope for something, we are not sure whether it will happen. However, the Bible teaches us that there is a source of hope that is absolutely certain and trustworthy — God's character and promises. This reading plan is about hope from a Biblical perspective.
