Say ‘Yes’
You bet we are aware of it! A new year – time to dust off those resolutions and try to do good by ourselves and others. How long will that last? Have they gone already?
The Lord is doing something new, a roadway in the wilderness and a river in the desert. John the Baptist and Jesus are being looked to here in this Isaiah passage, and they certainly shook things up! Both were put to death by the establishment. But Jesus rose from the dead and brings eternal life to us all. God has done something that has not been done before.
The most important, new and continuing thing you can do this year is follow Jesus. Say ‘yes’ to Him. By His power other things will follow and He will surprise and challenge us in ways that we would never expect. Now, isn’t that something to be excited about as we say goodbye to 2021 and launch into 2022?
Let’s pray. Loving Lord, help us to follow you in all aspects of our lives, realizing that we cannot do this on our own, but through the guiding hand of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
