Finding Hope in Job

DAY 5 OF 5

Now My Eyes See You

Job had heard great things about God but after his face-to-face encounter with God, he realised he’d been arrogant and sinful. God had called Job a righteous man, but when Job actually saw the living God, he could only think about repentance.

I can recall how I had heard about the goodness of God through the Scriptures; and then, one day according to God’s perfect plan, the scales came off my eyes. I wasn’t just any day… it had been a dark season and I desperately wanted Him to breakthrough in my situation. I felt I had lost everything. But losing everything became like a blank canvas for me to see God clearly as He really is, and not as I had perceived Him through my limited understanding.

When my eyes were open to see Him, and encounter His love, a twofold miracle took place. Not only did I ‘see’ Him, but His light shone so brightly that I clearly saw myself… all my sin was laid bare and, like Job, I repented with tears over God’s love and mercy.

Knowing God by our hearing only is totally different to knowing Him with the eyes of our heart. Through every trial, don’t run away from Him; keep talking to Him and you will see God in a whole new way. Let’s ask Him to open the eyes of our heart.

‘I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling – that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!’ Ephesians 1:18 (TPT).
