Love Remains | A 13-Day Devotional By Hillary ScottSample
“Your Unfailing Love”
Think about the person or people you love most. Picture them in your mind. It might be your children, your parents, your spouse, a friend. Whoever it is, you love them fiercely. You would do anything for them. Your love is at its best when it’s directed at them.
Now consider this: God’s love for you is infinitely more than the greatest amount of love you are able to have for another person.
In the Psalms, David often describes God’s love as “unfailing.” Like Psalm 36, which says, “Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths” (Psalm 36:5-6). This imagery gives you the sense that God’s love is endless. His faithfulness and His justice run deep and wide.
I give thanks to you above
For your unfailing love
We fail in our love every day, even toward the people we love the most. Even, and maybe especially, in our love toward our Father. But God’s love is unfailing. It doesn’t waiver. It is constant. It bridges the gap that our imperfect love has left.
Rest assured today that no matter how your love has failed in the past or how it will in the future, His love toward you never will.
