Raising Uncommon Kids

DAY 11 OF 12

Lesson Title: Consider Others
Character Focus: Humility
Prayer Focus: Country
Focus Verse: COL.3.12

Although everyone cannot help everybody, someone can help somebody.

Today’s youth must embrace the concept that while we may never agree with the powers that be, we must still respect and work alongside them. It’s not about being right, but about putting feet to our faith.

Teaching your kids not to be prideful also means teaching them to care about our country as a whole. Even raising their awareness is a step in the right direction.

But if we are going to prepare our children to change the state of our nation, we first need to represent what it truly means to submit ourselves to and humble ourselves under the authority of one true God.

Without such humility comes great consequences, yet with that knowledge comes the powerful awareness that everyone can help someone by embracing their God-given gifts.

Thought to Ponder: It’s not about knowing how to do something; it’s about being willing to do anything.

Make it Practical:
It’s hard for anyone to imagine what it’s like to serve our country in the military unless they have experienced it firsthand. But it’s not hard to imagine what it’s like to be thousands of miles away from your family. Many organizations give guidance in writing and sending care packages to the active duty members of our military.
