25 Songs of Christmas a Musical Celebration of the SeasonSample
Day 21 — Bethlehem Morning
Freedom!
That’s not typically a word you see scrawled across a Christmas card or woven into seasonal decorations. Peace, love and joy are the typical focus, as they should be! Even so, freedom is central to Christmas in so many ways.
Written by Morris Chapman and made popular by Sandi Patty, the Christmas song “Bethlehem Morning” speaks of the freedom we have in Christ Jesus!
Consider the following lyrics:
Bethlehem morning
Is more than just a memory,
For the child that was born there
Has come to set us free
How did He set us free?
The greatest thing the blood of Jesus accomplished was this—it washed all your sin away and made you clean and pure—white as snow. From the minute you receive Jesus as Lord, God will not remember any past sin in your life!
In addition to being redeemed from sin, Jesus also set us free from the curse of the law, so THE BLESSING of Abraham might come upon us in Christ (Galatians 3:13).
What is the curse?
The curse is death, sin, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, depression—anything bad you can think of. That’s what Jesus delivered you from—every part of the curse. He did that so you could live a life filled with blessings!
When you celebrate Christmas this year with your family, celebrate the peace, love and joy that came with the birth of Jesus that Bethlehem morning. But don’t forget to also celebrate the FREEDOM He gave to all of us, so we could live a supernatural life here on earth. Hallelujah!
