Anna's Advent AdventureSample
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. Luke 2:36-38 (KJV)
Anna gave thanks and spoke of Jesus to those looking for redemption. As we prepare for the Lord's coming, we must stay thankful for our salvation. I cannot imagine a life without Jesus. Thanksgiving springs up from my heart to my lips when I think about the privilege of knowing Jesus as my Lord and savior. May we never lose our wonder and the joy of our salvation!
Anna did not only treasure the opportunity to see Jesus or have an encounter with Jesus; she told others about Jesus. As we prepare for the Lord's coming, we must not forget that our salvation is not a private matter.
While many of us are not in "full-time ministry" like Anna, we can serve God full-time by living Matthew 6:33. I like the Amplified Version of Matthew 6:33: But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.
Our life is ministry. We can spread the gospel on our jobs, through parenthood, and our interactions with others. We can serve God by choosing to seek God's will in all we do and submitting to God's will concerning different issues of life.
