Daily Bible Reading – October 2021: God’s Word of JusticeSample

October 15
Introduction
Today we begin reading from the book of the prophet Amos. Amos was from a town in Judah (in the southern kingdom), but preached to the people in the northern kingdom of Israel during the middle of the eighth century B.C. It was a time of great prosperity, but Amos saw that prosperity was limited to the wealthy and that the poor were victims of injustice and oppression. Today’s reading begins with Amos proclaiming God’s judgment on Israel’s neighbors.
