Through the Bible: Job

DAY 3 OF 10

Choose Faith and Honesty

Let him take his rod away from me, and let not dread of him terrify me. Then I would speak without fear of him, for I am not so in myself.
Job 9: 34-35 (ESV)

Job was in a situation that was bewildering for him. He couldn’t understand why his property was destroyed, his children died, and he had sores all over his body. Job wished that God will take away the rod of punishment from him. He had always been in a close relationship with God, and he did not want to dread and fear. Throughout this painful episode, Job did not stop seeking God. He was honest in his confession of pain and bewilderment, and we know that ultimately, God answered him.

Prayer

Dear God, when we go through suffering, trials, and tribulations, give us the strength to carry on. We may not always have all the answers, but we trust in Your goodness and healing grace. Jesus came to earth and suffered too. We have a Saviour who understands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Though the question “why” remains unanswered, Job’s repentance and restoration signify that victory over suffering will come.
