DAY 9 OF 20

Have you ever seen a video clip online that explores someone else's worldview or culture? Did you raise your eyebrows or think to yourself, how do they carry that mindset? What you really may be feeling is the reality that not everyone thinks or lives one set way. Everyone seeks to work together, regardless of differences we may have, but it is much more difficult than it seems. Sometimes we struggle thinking Jesus loved people different from us the same way he loves us and people we are familiar with.

Peter, the speaker in our verse, had a tough time believing Jesus loved those who were different from himself. He fought the idea and almost fought the people who believed it.  It took God speaking to Peter through a dream for him to accept that God loves all people of the world. It is easy to know people from different countries are loved by God, especially when boarding planes to visit them on mission trips. But consider all of the different cultures represented in your city.

How can you learn about and love someone different from you this week?

Rad

Jesus had a lot to say about love, but not everyone loved him. Instead, Jesus’ opponents hated him, attacked him, and saw him as extreme — a radical. And they had a point! The things Jesus taught about loving God and others challenged the status quo. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll look at four ways Jesus invites us to love others according to his revolutionary example.
