How has becoming a father changed your perspective on a Father’s love for his children?
As a traveling skater/evangelist who is fishing for people with the gospel, I cast a lot of seed. With the length of time that I have been sharing the word, putting my faith in Jesus I have seen people trust in Jesus for a while then later turn away, and that is sad and terrifying for me.
As a father, I wanna see my kids grow up knowing the word of the Lord and in Deuteronomy we are told to love the Lord God, to teach His ways.
We need to make sure they know the testimonies but most of all His unchanging word.
One thing I have noticed is that many of those who turned away didn’t have a firm foundation to start. See, in the original language of the proverb, it actually could say, "train a child up in the way he should go, and when he is old it will not depart from Him." As a dad I want the best for my kids. I try to make decisions now with that in mind.
What about my kids? The family? Have they seen me enough? Is my life being used to raise my kids up in the way they should go? Am I living a life that reflects that?
As I teach them in the word, most importantly, I am relying on the Lord to bring it to remembrance so that they may be taught by the word, guided by the Holy Spirit, learning to trust in Jesus and have their own relationship with the Father of Heaven and Earth; that they, too, might train their children up (when that time comes) in the way they should go.
