Day 9: God Is For You
God is for you.
This is really a life-changing and fresh perspective we must all get our heads and hearts around. God is for us! God is for you, and if we can internalize that truth, then we can also understand what it means: that God wants for us the same good things we want for ourselves.
One of the psalms we read today tells us: if we delight ourselves in God, then he will give us the desires of our hearts. It’s easy to read and think, okay, this thing I want is a thing God will give me if I just follow him. And I think it could be valid! But what if we read it like this: These desires I have? I have them because God gave them to me.
God knows us so much better than we know ourselves. He created us! And not only did he create us, but he created us the way he created us. This means he knows what makes you smile, what makes you laugh, what inspires you, what motivates you and challenges you. It also means he knows what gets you down, what you are struggling with, and where you need Him to step in.
God is on your team. Sometimes it may feel like you’re fighting God, but you never are. He is pushing, pulling, guiding, and steering you to better days. This is who He is. This is what He does.
Knowing this totally opens up the way you pray. If you haven’t internalized this truth, you’ll pray small prayers rooted in worry and fear that God may not want you to have what you pray for. But once you grab this realization, you will pray unafraid. You’ll pray huge prayers, prayers that will change your life.
