Division and Diversion - Satan’s Scheme by Bryan Craig 

DAY FOUR

Scripture:  “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

Thought:  God has marked out our race for us.  He has us on a track for His purposes.  Much like the heroes of the faith listed in Hebrews 11, our life of faith matters greatly.  Satan would try to hinder our race with distractions, and he would also try to get us engaged in sin which would take us out of the race.

We must look to the finish line, and see Jesus there waiting for us with His arms open wide.  He created us and called us to our purpose, so we must stay connected to the Vine and His life will pour into ours.  Jesus will keep us from losing focus and getting off target.

Application:  Do we understand who we are in Christ, how He has gifted us through His Spirit and the mission to which He has called us?  Let’s write the responses to these questions in our journals.

Do we see any hindrances in our lives that are keeping us from God’s plans?  Do we see any sin entangling our lives?  Ask the Holy Spirit to examine our lives and shine His light on the dark areas that need exposed.  Journal what you see.

Response:  Let’s write a prayer of confession for any sin or hindrances we’ve allowed to impede our race, asking for forgiveness where necessary.

Let’s write down what we think God’s vision for our life is.  It doesn’t have to be grandiose, but God has a purpose for us all.  If we don’t understand it, we need to seek Him until we discover it.

Let’s write a prayer of rededication to God’s will for our lives and our ministries.
