Love God Greatly: David

DAY 8 OF 54

SOAP: 2 Samuel 5:10

David is finally named King, but he understands that he is not in this position because of the will of the man. God has placed him on the throne, and his job is to serve the King of Kings and protect his people. God is sovereign ruler over all of creation, and David was blessed as king because he stood under the umbrella of God’s authority.

David’s story is a reminder to us that we are not here on earth to build our own kingdoms. We are merely stewards placed in positions to bring glory to God. We must rely on God’s power and wisdom to succeed at the tasks He has laid before us. We bear His name and can move forward in confidence knowing that nothing can thwart God’s kingdom purposes.

Lord, Yours alone is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We are completely dependent on your strength today. May we not seek to please man, but to serve You. Amen.
