Daily Bible Reading – June 2021, God’s Word of HopeSample
June 2
Introduction
Today we begin reading a concluding chapter from the apostle Paul’s first letter to the people of Corinth. In this chapter, Paul gives his most detailed teaching about the Christian hope for life after death. Today’s reading includes Paul’s message of “the greatest importance” and concludes with his personal testimony of his work as an apostle.
Today’s Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 15:1-11
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:3b, 4b
Christ died for our sins, as written in the Scriptures … he was raised to life three days later, as written in the Scriptures.
Reflect
Paul seeks to remind the Corinthians of the Good News which he preached to them and on which their faith stands firm (verse 1). How does the Good News provide a firm foundation for your faith? In verse 3, Paul says that he is passing on what he received and what he considers to be of the greatest importance. What is this important message? How does this message impact your faith?
Pray
Lord Jesus, hope that is based on the salvation you offer is the firm foundation of my faith. You died for my sins; you were buried and then rose from death three days later. This is the Good News, and I thank and praise you for your sacrificial love. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those who have not yet heard the Good News
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Corinthians 15:12-34: Paul discusses the resurrection of the dead.
