NAMES
Everlasting Father
Prince of Peace
Immanuel, God with us
You’re here with me
Wonderful Counselor
The government is resting on Your shoulders
Throughout Scripture, we see countless names given to God. Each one tells us something different about His nature.
He is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
He is Immanuel. (Matthew 1:23) God also calls himself I AM (Exodus 3:14), El-Shaddai (Gen 17:1), God Almighty, the Physician, and the Good Shepherd (John 10:11).
But even with the dozens of names for God that are mentioned throughout the Bible, He is still beyond our full comprehension and understanding.
God is greater and bigger than our minds can fully take in.
Sometimes. a new name was given to God after He did something miraculous. At other times, a new name for God was introduced after He revealed something about His nature.
But each name for God that we find in scripture gives us a chance to know and understand Him better. Each name gives us another reason to worship God for who He is.
He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End.
He is Abba, our Father.
He's Jehovah Rapha, which means the LORD Our Healer.
He is El Roi, the God Who Sees.
The more we learn about someone, the closer to them we become. The same thing applies to our relationship with God.
Within these names of God, we can find comfort, understanding, and even joy that extends beyond our circumstances.
Each part of his character gives us countless reasons that He is worthy of our worship and praise.
In this season of life, who is the Lord to you?
Is He your Truest Friend?
Is He your Redeemer?
When you need help, remember that He is your Helper. When you are sick, He is your Healer. When you are lonely, He is Love.
Choose a name of God from Scripture today, and worship and thank Him for being that in your life.
May we never lose our wonder over who God is and all that He does. His names say it all.
