Fervent: Fight Fear With Faith Sample
We see the world around us and we may feel like we’re staring at an eerie reflection of these verses. But there is something that is described here that should give us pause. “…because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (v. 12). God never promised that our life on earth would be without suffering, especially lawlessness. And today, when we see man’s depravity and the lawlessness truly abounding, we can begin to question our faith, God’s sovereignty, His omnipotence, and His will. But this is where we truly begin to do battle. We “endure” to the end, i.e. we hold our ground in conflict, we bear up against adversity, we hold out under stress, we stand firm, we persevere under pressure, we wait calmly, and we wait courageously. It is not passive resignation to fate or mere patience, but the active, vigorous resistance to defeat that allows for calm endurance. Remember in the end, we will be saved.
Pray for:
• The Church to be filled with God’s strength to persevere in adversity.
• The gift of endurance to run this race till the end.
• Our love for God to not grow cold.
