Day 2: Moving Mountains
Ephesians 3:20 “Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all….” (TPT)
How can I move something that is too big for me to move? Jesus tells us two things we have to do for mountains to move. The first thing is THINK BIG. Matthew 17:20 “…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (NIV, emphasis added). THINK BIG. I want you to do a simple exercise; close your eyes and think for a moment. Ask yourself, if nothing is impossible with me, what will I attempt for God?
If I have no limit in my life, what are the biggest mountains that God can move in my life? What are the things I can see myself doing or getting done if there were no limits? You will notice that when you start to engage this question, initially nothing will come to mind. But the longer you stay with and engage the question, your mind’s eye will begin to open up to see possibilities. I want to challenge you to write these things down.
Next, you write down two things that attempt to stand in our way of thinking big. The first is self. How? Look again at the list of things you have written down. If it is about yourself or your family alone, then you will need to stretch your thinking even further. Why? Jesus' arms are wide open to reach people through you. If all you are thinking about is yourself, then how will reaching others be possible? Thinking big means reaching other people beyond you!
The second thing that gets in the way of thinking big is fear. Fear caused by past disappointments has a way of flooding our heart and boxing us into a corner. Everyone that has been great, everyone that is great, and will ever be great has to take risks. If you try to play it safe, to avoid being disappointed, you will struggle with achieving greatness. You have to to be willing to take risks and because God is on your side, you will not fail.
