The Discovery: Exploring God’s Call On Your Life

DAY 34 OF 35

“The Discipline: How do I prioritize the relationships in my life?“

As you carry out the assignments God gives you, prioritize the relationships in your life properly.

No matter what, God must remain number one in your life. He will accept no less. As you serve, remember that your assignment is not a substitute for your relationship with God.

If God allows you to marry, your spouse must remain second to God in your life. Protect your marriage. Do not give your spouse what is rightfully God’s, and do not expect them to do for you what only God can do. To do so is to set your relationship up for strife and/or failure.

If God chooses to give you children, they must come third in your life. Your ministry to others will mean little if you don’t minister to your family, those whom God has given into your personal, daily charge. Remember that your children’s friends are no substitute for Mom and Dad.

Other relationships must come after your relationship with God and your immediate family.

Respond to the following in your journal:

What did you learn through Bible study today?

How were you encouraged? How were you challenged?

About this Plan

The Discovery: Exploring God’s Call On Your Life

Welcome! We are so excited that you want to explore God’s unique plan for your life. Remember, ultimately, the goal of this reading plan is not to figure out what your future job might be, but to hear from God about what it means to be called, so make sure to give it your best effort! Enjoy the journey! Here are just a few tips as you jump in: • Come prepared mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. • Shut out all distractions. • Start with prayer. Keep communication between you and God open and easy by confessing any unconfessed sin, accepting His forgiveness, and asking Him to speak to your heart through Bible study. • Take your time. Read all of the verses listed, listen for God’s voice. You may want to write in a journal as you go so you can track your spiritual progress and remember what God says to you.
