Through Her Eyes: A Call to Extravagant Devotion That Defies CultureSample
Being a Friend of Jesus
“Here’s the one thing I crave from God,
The one thing I seek above all else;
I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house,
Finding the sweet loveliness of his face,
Filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace
I want to live my life so close to him
That he takes pleasure in my every prayer."
King David, Psalm 27:4
For a friend, we always make space. We make room for them. We listen, with no hesitation or reservations.
Not ashamed whether or not our homes are befitting for them, we open our doors. With no excuse for having little or nothing, we welcome a friend.
We chose our friends, the same way Jesus chose Mary and her siblings. We serve our friends, just as Martha and Mary served Jesus with the comfort of their home and their meals. They saw a need to serve, so they opened up their home and lives.
To be a friend of Jesus is to listen to Him. It is to open our lives to Him. It is to serve him. It is to choose Him. It is to sit at His feet. Jesus has chosen you as a friend. How will you respond today?
Challenge:
Pray that God drops the name of someone you know on your heart. Give them a call and pray with them.

About this Plan
In this eight part devotional series, join Mary of Bethany on a journey of discovery of the worth of Jesus. Engage in the interactions that left her convinced, even though other’s missed it. May we witness her storyline, make it our own, and be empowered to walk in the extravagant devotion that writes history.
