In My Head: A 5-Day Devotional by Grace GraberSample
Day Five: I Miss the Old Days
It’s always good to reflect on the highlights of our past. Even Jesus told his disciples to take communion together to “remember” him. Pondering the past has value and yet it’s often overlooked. We live in a day where many are searching for the “next best thing” forgetting the incredible things that have already transpired. Spending time in God’s Word allows us to travel back in time and witness the incredible acts of God in human history.
“I will remember the works of the Lord. Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.” Psalm 77:11
One of my favorite memories happened when God turned my life around. After a divine encounter through a song, I started to pursue music, dreaming one day that I would sing with a certain band that had a huge impact on me.
In 2011, I attended a youth conference, ‘The Revolve Tour,’ where the band that saved my life was performing, and I found an opportunity to share my story and my dream with the lead singer. He invited me to join him on stage and sing with him the next day. This affirmed a dream that God had placed in my heart that decisive night, and continues to fuel my singing, and sharing hope with others. God’s plans are always perfectly carried out.
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
“I Miss the Old Days” was written as a tribute to the many Christian artists who had an impact on me. My heart is to follow in their footsteps.
Do you remember a time when God showed up profoundly? Do you reflect on that from time to time? How can God’s faithfulness to you be shared with others?
