I AmSample

The world that we live in is dark. All we have to do is look at our phones or watch the news and we’re bombarded with pictures of war, injustice, racism, hate, depression, disaster and sadness. There is so much darkness all around us. Where do we find light? The answer to that is in Jesus’ second I Am statement. He said: “I am the light of the world.” The world was dark when Jesus was on earth too. Ever since sin first entered the world through Adam and Eve, the world has been full of darkness. But, we follow a God who is light — He is the light. When God led the Israelites out of Egypt in Exodus, he went out in front of them in the form of a cloud of fire, lighting the way. Today, he does the same thing, only we have him inside of us in the form of the Holy Spirit. We have that light with us, so we can be that light too. We are told to be the light to those around us, and we are only able to because we have that light! In this dark world, we have the light to guide us and to give to others around us. 

Challenge: Be a light today. Find someone who you can serve, pray for, or encourage, and show them the light of Jesus that is inside of you.
