Rise Up (Lazarus)
Written by CAIN
In 71 BC, Roman crucifixions were common. It’s recorded that 6,000 crucifixions occurred on a single day. However, the crucifixion of Jesus is one of the most recorded accounts in history. Why? He was a not rich political leader, nor was He a war hero. He never traveled more than the width of Alabama in his entire life. It was the not the cause of death that caused this uproar. It was the resurrection!
Jesus’ death and resurrection was not a single event in history. It’s the power of salvation today and forever. In His death, He defeated death FOR us all, and in His resurrection, he gave the power TO us all.
So what does it mean to Rise Up? Let me first tell you what it’s not. It’s not positive thinking, self-help, or trying to make better, Godly habits. We have to remember that apart from Jesus, we are without hope. We are completely unable to change or remedy our condition. We need the supernatural overhaul that Jesus performed on the cross.
To Rise Up, we look to Jesus, we gaze into the empty tomb, and believe it. We can’t look into ourselves to summon motivation for a better life. Even the desire for change is nothing without the power to do it!
In my own life, it’s so easy to forget about the present-tense power of Christ. My spiritual growth often turns into an ever-growing to do list of ways to be better. But when I look to myself, I leave His power on the table.
Did you know that Jesus is calling out to you now, to receive His resurrection power?
Romans 8:11 says that the resurrection power “will give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” It’s something you can sense, feel, know, live in, experience!
Today, I want you to take your eyes off of yourself, your current situation, and look to Jesus who raised himself and already raised you 2,000 years ago. Soak in all that was already done on your behalf. See the empty tomb and believe. Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling you? Rise up.
Prayer:
Jesus, I’ve tried everything to change. By my own strength, I am powerless. Holy Spirit, fill me with the full resurrection power to revive my body and soul. Show me that in Your name I have all power and authority, that I will do great things, and that anything is possible. Lord, I need nothing more than your cross and your victory to help me overcome anything in this life! Amen.
