Sharing God's Peace

Can you think of a time when someone shared God’s peace with you? Maybe you were having a bad day and felt anxious or worried, and a friend, parent, or coach encouraged you to pray and ask God to help you find peace. Or maybe someone shared God’s peace with you by playing you a song, riding bikes with you, sitting with you to read the Bible..

But how can you share God’s peace with others?

Let’s look at how Jesus shared peace with His disciples. In John 14, Jesus was talking to His disciples before His death. He knew they would be scared, lonely, and heartbroken. But He promised they would receive a gift — the gift of the spirit of peace.

He told them, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. [...] Do not let your hearts be troubled.”

Notice Jesus didn’t promise them a peaceful, easy life — one without fear, pain, or conflict. But He did promise them peace in Him. And no matter what they faced, their future was secure because of who Jesus is!

True peace isn’t based on our current circumstance; rather, it’s found in our belief in Jesus! Because Jesus shared peace with us, we can share peace with others! (e.g., through songs, stories, Bible verses, prayers, etc.)

In today’s episode of “Cloud City Chaos,” Hollywood was scared the flying city would crash into the ground. But Flash shared with him some of his own peaceful thoughts and helped Hollywood find his own peace. Check out this audio clip.

Ask yourself: What are some things that help you find peace? How can you share that peace with others?

Challenge yourself: God’s gift of peace never leaves us. This week, listen for it. Look for ways to share God’s peace with others. Pray for a friend, sibling, parent, or teacher. Ask God to show you ways you can share His peace with others.

Pray: God, thank You for sharing Your peace with us. Help me find ways I can share Your peace with others just like You shared it with Your disciples. In Jesus’ name, amen.
