Through the Bible: Joshua

DAY 1 OF 8

Do Not Be Afraid

"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:7-9 (NIV)

I came across an essay assignment written by my sister in her 8th grade on what she feared most. She wrote, "Fear," is what she fears most. Fear cripples us emotionally and physically and impacts our thoughts and actions, birthing distorted perspectives. It hinders growth and fulfilment if we allow it to take root. As we read through the Bible, countless verses reflect God’s heart for His people, reminding them not to succumb to fear but to trust in Him. God gave specific instructions to Joshua as they prepared for their journey to take possession of the Promised Land; they were to feed upon His promises and not be consumed by fear. As His children, God’s presence is always with us through every season. He is Omniscient and Omnipotent, the Alpha and Omega.  As we persevere in Him, our times of testing will be turned to precious testimonies of His supernatural working.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word that is the lamp unto our feet. May we not be a people of fear but of faith, rooted in Your love to embrace the challenges of life with confidence and peace for Your Kingdom purposes. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Day 2

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Joshua

The book of Joshua records the Israelites’ conquest of the Canaanite Land and testifies of God’s faithfulness to His promise. Just as the author says in 21:45, “Not one of all the LORD's good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” Similarly, when life hits hard, always remember to be strong and courageous and cling onto God’s promises. Sooner or later, all will come to pass.
