Why Follow Jesus?Sample
How Much of Me Does Jesus Want?
You’re doing so well in this Bible Plan! You’ve made it to Day Five. Only one day left to go.
At this point, you’ve learned who Jesus is. You’ve learned that He’s the Good Shepherd who leads you every day. You’ve learned that following Him every day just leads you closer and closer to Him.
But maybe you’re wondering how much Jesus you need every day. Like, is it okay to have just a few bad habits? Does He care if you’re mostly following Him, but only a little bit of sin? Surely just a few bad thoughts or actions each day won’t bother Him, right?
Eh, you might want to watch this video with Quizman.
That’s more like it. “A little Jesus and then back to what I want to do” is a formula for disaster. Why? Because Jesus knows the past, the present, and the future. Follow Him with each step so you can avoid stepping into trouble you didn’t even see coming. His ways are perfect. People’s ways? Not even close to perfect.
Ask yourself: What areas of my life am I tempted to keep Jesus out of? In other words, what do I consider a “back to me” moment in my life? How can I let Jesus be a part of everything in my life instead?
Challenge yourself: What were your answers to the “Ask yourself” questions above? Open up about them with someone. Find an adult you trust, like a parent, a small group leader, or a mentor, and let them know you’re having a little trouble in an area. For example: If you’re struggling to turn off YouTube when you know it’s time to read your Bible, ask someone to help you stay on track. You might be surprised at just how helpful it can be to have someone else encouraging you to do what you know is the right thing to do!
Pray: God, thank You for wanting to share every minute of my life. Thank You for wanting to guide every single step I take. Help me to remember that. Help me to listen to Your guidance and follow You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
