For God So Loved the World Sample
GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD
Let's take a walk down memory lane in the book of Genesis, where the infinite, perfect, and eternal God of the universe created the world and everything in it. The world was absolute perfection because God does not make any mistakes. However, things didn't remain flawless very long.
Sin entered the world in the third chapter of Genesis. Adam and Eve, whom God created in His image to have fellowship with Him and care of His supremely formed world, sinned from the get-go. They disobeyed the single command God gave them: "But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die." (Gen 2:17 NIV) The fall of man occurred, and humanity rapidly continued on a downward spiral of sin and wickedness to this day.
So, why would God love a world that sinned a gazillion times in the past and continues doing so today? Let's be clear; God doesn't love sin. He hates it, but He does love you and me despite our faults and our transgressions and wants to have a close relationship with us; because He loves us. God loves us (humanity, the world) so much that He provided a way out of sin's grasp and death.
JESUS, THE SON, THE ONE
The Apostle John wrote that God showed His love among us by sending His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. "This is love," John wrote, "Not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." (1 John 4:10) God sent His Son to die for us, not because we were "good enough," but because He loved us so much while we were still sinners.
Romans 6:23 (NIV) states, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Because we live in a fallen world, we are all born into sin. We will sin and continue to fall short of God's grace. However, Jesus paid for your sins with His blood by dying on the cross in your place. He broke sin's power! Such is God's immense love for the world and His infinite and eternal love for you! Will you thank Him for this today and commit yourself to live in Christ in perfect freedom?
