The God Who Forgives

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” 1 John 1:9 (NLT)

What a relief that we can bring our burdens to God in prayer! Not only can we bring our cares to Him, but we can also bring Him our mistakes.

When we bring our mistakes to God through prayer, He gives us freedom from our mistakes through forgiveness.

He doesn’t keep a list of all the times we mess up. Once He forgives us, He wipes the slate clean. He doesn’t hold grudges.

Psalm 103:11-12 (NLT) gives us this promise: “For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”

God sees our mistakes and loves us anyway. He knows our deepest, darkest secrets and will still move heaven and earth to rescue us.

When we bring Him our poor decisions, our moments of weakness, and our greatest temptations, He listens. He hears our confessions, and He heals our hearts.

He doesn’t want us to walk in shame. He wants His children to flourish in freedom. 

I’m so glad that God is quick to forgive me. I don’t know where I’d be without His forgiveness.

If you’ve never experienced His forgiveness for yourself, I want to encourage you to pray and ask God to help you. I believe that He wants you to live a life that’s free of shame. If you ask Him, He will be faithful to forgive you.

He is a friend to me.
