Seven Types of Sabbath for Our Modern Culture!Sample
Enjoying Social Rest
In Scripture, it speaks repeatedly of Jesus going away by Himself to be with the Father. Jesus was revived by getting alone with His Father to hear His voice and to commune with Him. If He needed this kind of rest, then we sure do too. Getting alone with the Father is one of the most invigorating practices when we have gotten to know Him and the joy of His fellowship. Getting lost for hours with Him is the greatest joy and it refreshes us in every way.
He has secrets and goodness for us that can only be shared with Him. No other person can or ever will fill the hole of the Lord in our lives. We were made for unbroken fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It can be hard at times to remain in this place in and out of different seasons. We can become weary and sometimes the Lord can feel distant or even silent. The truth is: He is always longing for a relationship with us so that we can have this kind of reviving fellowship with Him. It is what we were made for.
Being alone with Him reminds us of who we are and awakens us to the life that we were always meant to live. We are eternal beings and our life is hidden in Christ. We are sojourners here on Earth. Time alone with Him helps remind us of the life that He has in mind for us that is so much greater than any life we could dream up for ourselves here. Getting connected to the Father allowed Jesus to live out His purpose here on the Earth and stay true to His course. Time alone with the Lord calibrates us to who we are so that we can live out our purpose here on the earth. There is nothing more life-giving than living out who we were created to be.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You that You are always pursuing me and that I was made for fellowship with You. Help me remember to cultivate my relationship with You in order to be revived and remember who I am. Thank You that you are not far away and that You long for fellowship with me as much as I do with You. I am so thankful that Your presence revives me and that You have created me for a great purpose!
