The Ten Miracles of God's GoodnessSample
DAY 2 — More Miracles of God's Goodness
Today, let's continue to explore the miracles that the goodness of God brings us.
4. The Goodness of God satisfies everything
Psalm 145:16 says:
“You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.”
God leads us with an open hand. Think of that! He is always opening His hand to give, to bless, to heal, to encourage, to strengthen, and to die for us! He opens His hand and satisfies. Is there an area of your life that's not satisfied? Ask God, and thank Him for His open hand. It will satisfy you.
You see?!!! HE is the one who opens His hand. We don't have to pry it open. We don't have to beg and plead. He's chosen to do it. Jesus said,
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)
5. The Goodness of God changes everything
In the second part of Romans 2:4 it says,
“The goodness of God leads you to repentance.”
It's not “how sorry we are” that leads us to repentance. It’s not how smart we are that leads us to repentance. It’s not how holy we are that leads us to repentance. It’s how GOOD He is.
When we see His goodness, it changes how we look at Him. And then it changes our minds about Him. Peter saw all the goodness of God in the great catch of fish. What did that goodness do? It led Peter to repentance, as he fell at the feet of Jesus.
God’s goodness draws us to Him. It woos us to Him. It changes how we look at Him. We see a good God, rather than an angry judge. We see a kind loving Father, rather than a fearsome master.
"In kindness, He takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life change.” (Romans 2:4, Message)
6. The Goodness of God shapes everything
Romans 8:28 says,
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
In this time and in this hour, when so many people are trying to figure everything out, trying to get their life back to what it was, God's trying to move our lives to something so much better. I believe that happens naturally as we simply embrace the reality of Romans 8:28.
We can embrace the reality that some really bad things have happened in our world. We can embrace that reality because we embrace this reality: that God causes all these things to work together for our good. He doesn’t ‘cause’ all things. He doesn’t CAUSE disease, tragedy, and negative things. But, He causes those things to be SHAPED into something good.
God can take the good and the bad; He can take the sour and the sweet. And through the chemistry of the cross, He causes these things to result in something good. Don’t forget. He’s not just the author of our faith. He is the finisher too. So, trust Him to finish what He started in you!
7. The Goodness of God uses everything
God can use a good day that you had, and a bad one. Whatever you give Him, He can use. Give Him five loaves and two fish. He can use that. Give Him your skill as a fisherman. He can use that to make you a fisher of men. Give Him your time, talent, and treasure—He can use that.
He's using this moment. He's using this hour. He's using technology. He uses everything. And it doesn’t all make sense right away. Our part is to simply trust.
Again, we look to Genesis 50:20 and see how this perspective is what made Joseph such a powerful man. He saw that even though what his brothers did was evil and wrong, God still used it to bring about something miraculous for the world.
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” (Genesis 50:20)
Notice: “… as it is THIS day.” “THIS” day took a few years. But it finally came. Be patient. Trust Him. He’s using everything, no matter what it looks like right now.
Tomorrow, we will look at three more miracles that the goodness of God is going to do for YOU!
