Thankfulness
"For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places," (Ephesians 1:15–20)
I have a lot to be thankful for, what about you? I am grateful for the giggles and laughs from my little boy. I am thankful every morning when he walks out of his room with his baby blanket on his head. That safety blanket has been a staple since he was a baby and is still a favorite at the age of seven. I am also thankful for the faith we have in the risen Christ who is our saving grace. It is not a creed, a group, a church, or a new car. It rests in the exalted Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul shares his thankfulness for the foundation God laid before and will continue to put ahead for our purpose. Daily I thank God for all that I have. It can be easy to forget about our blessings and His will for us. The Father of all Glory is deserving of our thanks. As the originator of everything, all glory belongs to Him. He blesses us with the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge. A knowledge that is unlike any book study, but one of gracious ministry from the Spirit, a revelation not of things we see, but one of the unseen and eternal.
The transformation of the heart, a revelation of God’s purpose and gifts of the Spirit are given freely to those who love Him. It is His will for us to find hope, glory of His inheritance. He gives us a reason to dream about the greatness of His power. I live in awe of His power. The inheritance that awaits is far greater than any worldly attraction can offer. The same power that raised Christ from the grave and seated Him at His Father’s right hand is available today for all that believe in Him. I am thankful for that every day. Yesterday does not define me today. There is freedom in Christ; pause for a moment of Uncommen thankfulness each day.
