The Beat Goes On
One of the Bible’s most well-known verses is found in Joshua 1, where God says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” How often do we need God’s strength? For me, it’s every day in all aspects of my life. I also need God’s strength when it comes to my personal health, including finding the motivation to take care of my body in the form of exercise.
There are many types of exercise, and one that is most common in Scripture is walking. God is an avid promoter of putting one foot in front of the other, and usually, when He talks to those in the Bible, it’s in the form of “Walk to ____ “, or “Take up your mat and go (walk).” Walking is also a form of aerobic and cardio exercise, both benefitting the strength of your heart. Some of the ways these exercises help your heart include losing weight, improving cholesterol, and lowering blood pressure. My encouragement and prayer for you today is to ask for God’s strength and to move for at least thirty minutes.
