Putting It All Together

Did you know that Jesus talked about money eleven times in 40 parables in the New Testament? That's nearly 27.5% of the documented teachings of Jesus. That tells us just how important our mindset and attitude towards money are. More importantly, we must be aware of how we form our thoughts and attitudes about money so we can have a Christ-centered perspective.

As entrepreneurs, we have read other books about money that are totally counter to what Jesus says about money. Many of these contrary beliefs in our society today are seen as “normal.” But as Christ-followers, we “... do not conform to the pattern of this world, but [we are] be transformed by the renewing of your mind” about money (Romans 12:2 NIV). Obviously, this verse needs to be applied to every aspect of our lives. 

Nevertheless, for working adults (and perhaps for my young adult readers), money seems to be a rather sensitive issue. We do not like talking about it. It is not taught in public education. And it is even scarier to talk about in our local church. But because it is important to Jesus, we have to address this head-on. We need to focus on the supremacy of Jesus’s will and desires for how we need to treat and think about money.
