Advance: Bringing the Gospel Wherever You GoSample
Day 2: This Is the Way
Have you ever received something good, like a gift, that you didn’t need to earn? How do these moments make you feel? God’s grace is like this gift! We can do nothing to earn it, but He loves us so much that He lavishes us with this beautiful gift anyway.
The truth is that we cannot earn our way to heaven; there’s nothing we can do on our own to get us there. Why? Well, according to Romans 3:23, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And in Romans 6:23a, we learn that “the wages of sin is death.” That’s the ever-present bad news and reality of the world we live in. So, as Romans 7:24 asks, “Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?” Jesus, that’s Who! Romans 7:25 tells us, “Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord,” because even though the wages of our sin is death, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23b).
We are saved by God’s grace through faith alone. Paul says in Ephesians that the grace of God is a “gift,” and we should share the good news that this gift is for all mankind! We need to advance the good news so that others can experience it and share in it . . . so that they too can be saved and forgiven and redeemed and made alive!
Jesus is the way! In John 14:6, Jesus makes that clear, saying that He is the only way to eternal life and God’s grace. Only faith in Jesus will grant us eternal life with God in heaven, not our works. He is the true and only Way, and if we truly believe this we must share it.
“When one chooses to walk the Way of the Mandalore, you are both hunter and prey . . . This is the Way.” The famous line from the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian speaks to the single-minded passion, devotion, and commitment that Mandalorians have to their beliefs and their ways. Friends, the same should be true of Christians, believers in Jesus, followers of the Way, which is actually what believers called Christianity in the early days of the Church. We must have this kind of deep devotion and commitment to the cause of Christ and to sharing this gift with others.
Think of one person who does not know about God’s gift yet. Pray for this person after your devotional each day this week, that they would receive God’s gift.
