LEARNING TO BE CONTENT

Are you content or discontent? Most of us would say that we are not content with our circumstances. There is so much going on around us that causes us to feel unsatisfied and unhappy. We cannot seem to be content with what we have, so we want more. Social media highlights our discontent when posts make us compare ourselves to others. Advertisers target discontented people with their ads. But God wants us to find our contentment in Him!

What does the Bible say about contentment? What is the secret to being content in our circumstances? Philippians 4:11-13 tells us that:

1. We must learn in whatever situation we are facing to be content.

2. We must learn the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

3. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. 

Bottom line is that we can only find our contentment in Christ!

Learning the secret of contentment starts with a relationship with Christ. He must be present in our life. We can know Him by trusting Him in every situation. We may not like our circumstances. but we can delight and rest in His care for us.  He is sovereign and can supply all of our needs when we trust His will for our lives. He will strengthen us for any challenge as we let go and let God work all things out for our good. "And we know for those who love God all things work together for good, for those called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Do not expect to be content unless you have a relationship with Jesus. He is the way to a life of peace filled with riches of his glory! And He will supply all of your needs according to his riches of glory. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.." Philippians 4:19

Dear Lord,

Thank You for strengthening me for the challenges ahead. I know that You will supply my every need according to Your riches in glory. Even when I am facing plenty or hunger, abundance or need, You are there for me. I will trust You even when I do not understand and learn to be content in every situation for I can do all things through You, Lord, who strengthens me!
