[Difference Makers ls] A Graceful Touch

DAY 3 OF 5

A Willing Heart

Difference makers have a willing heart and a willing life. We see it in the prophet’s response to God in Isaiah 6:8. Can you see Isaiah raising his hand? He is forthright. He declares, “I want to be used by You, God.” Difference makers do not hide from God's will. They say, “I want to do Your will, Lord. Here I am! Send me.”

A single mom and a 10-year-old girl came to our church. The little girl, who was in 5th grade, desired to start a Bible study at her school. Mom had been coaching her and encouraging her. They went to “See You at the Pole,” where people gather around the flag pole to pray at the beginning of the school year. Six people assembled around the flagpole at this elementary school. And this little girl said, “I want to start a Bible study at our school. Would any of y'all like to come?” Her mother said, “We should probably check with the school.” So they call the school and the assistant principal said, “Yes, cool! Have a Bible study here. We’ll give you a room to meet.”

So, the girl invites these little kids and begins a Bible study in her school. She’s making a difference. “Here I am! Send me!” No one told her, “But you’re only 10.” God can use kids. Her mother did not say, “Wait. You’re too little. Wait till later.” The administrator did not discourage her. Instead, he said, “Let’s do this. I’ve been put here for a purpose.” And so, this whole thing comes together.

Whether you are a student, a professor, or an administrator, you have a huge opportunity to make a difference wherever you are. Whatever your age, even in the formative years of life, I encourage you to make a difference. Pray for the people you see as you walk down the hall. Be humble and be helpful. Be with people; love them and care for them; invite them to church. Sit and eat with people who are alone, and God will use you in great ways. The fields are ripe for the harvest; you just need to say, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”

What are You calling me to do, God? Am I making excuses not to do it, instead of simply obeying You and stepping out in faith?

About this Plan

[Difference Makers ls] A Graceful Touch

This is part two of a two-part series on Isaiah’s vision and calling to serve the Lord. Isaiah did not sit down to write because he had tremendous literary ability, or because he was so Godly and knowledgeable. He became a difference maker because he was amazed by the Lord and transformed by His graceful touch. Then he responded as a difference maker by expressing his willingness to serve God.
