Beauty in My Brokenness Sample
Though I Lost, I Won
In 2011 my mother unexpectantly passed away. She was my best friend and biggest supporter. Losing her turned my world upside down. The next couple of months after losing her would be the hardest I had ever faced. I felt alone and misunderstood. Grieving the loss of my mother was very difficult. I was an emotional train wreck. When I lost my mom, I lost my sense of purpose. I turned to alcohol and clubbing to numb the pain I felt inside. I was so depressed that I slept in my car at the graveyard site. My mind was plagued with suicidal thoughts every day. Life was getting to be unbearable.
One night in the middle of my living room floor I broke down! The tear gates opened and I began to cry out to God for His help. I needed His will to be done in my life. After this encounter, I gained the strength I needed to move forward. God gave me hope and passion to live again. I thought I had lost everything, but in reality, I would actually win through Christ.
Have you lost a loved one recently? Grieving is a process of time. Take this time to reflect on the good memories you had with your loved ones. It is okay to miss the ones you love after they transition to heaven. Take time for yourself to grieve, it will help you to heal.
Father God, I thank you for the time I had to love (insert name). Thank you for the memories we captured together. I acknowledge that (insert name) is in a better place. I will begin to rejoice and be glad concerning it. As I go through the process of grieving, I ask that you wrap your loving arms around me. Thank you for sending me a forever Comforter. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
